Enable Tab Preview For Firefox In Windows 7
Window 7 introduced a neat feature where you can preview the window of an application by putting your mouse over it in the taskbar. Most modern browsers, including Firefox, have made use of this Windows 7 feature and are now using it to display all the tabs in the taskbar. However not everyone finds it useful, and some feel it can be downright annoying, thus Firefox disabled it by default. Thankfully there’s an easy way to enable/disable this feature in Firefox:
- Open up a new tab in Firefox and type about:config in the address bar. Press Enter.
- You’ll get a warning that you can safely ignore. A long list of advanced settings for Firefox will display.
- Navigate to browser.taskbar (or use the Filter function at the very top and type in browser.taskbar).
- Double click it to switch it status to enabled/disabled.
If you disabled it, now only the active tab will be shown when you put your mouse over the taskbar item. If you want to disable that too, there’s a Windows-wide settings for that to which you can get by right clicking the Windows 7 taskbar, Properties and uncheck Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop.
