How to set a file without a filename

As you probably know, on Windows XP trying to rename a file to nothing, or event to a blank space, is not possible, for obvious reasons. But if for some strange, obscure reason you would like to rename this file to a blank space, do the following:

Right click, select “Rename” as you would normally do, hold down the Alt key and using the numeric keypad, type 255 (while holding down Alt). Release Alt and there you go. You have a blank space as your filename.

As you may already know, using Alt with a sequence of numbers is a way to enter different characters, and especially characters that you don’t have on your keyboard, such as Ö
