My temporary blog

I’m not the kind of guy who uses scripts, be it PHP or .NET code. I stay away as much as possible from classes, and other code written by others in general. For a few months, I’ll make an exception though, and use WordPress for my blog, until I have the necessary time to build my own solution.

I’m building a custom blogging system (like blogger.com if you wish) targeted at software developers and other geeks, which I already started. It will use ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005. However, this project comes after the new version of Geekpedia.com, which in turn comes after the current project I’m working on - Feedpedia.

Since it will take some time to finish the real Geekshout blogging system, I decided to open a temporary blog. Unfortunately I couldn’t go for an ASP.NET solution since I’m hosting this on Geekpedia’s server, which currently runs Apache. I never tried WordPress before, and since it’s so clean I decided to give it a temporary try.

Why do you hate others code man? If some one wants to share one’s effort which can minimize others burden and time as well, then why not appreciate first that person who publishes one’s code on net. Rest is we all programmers know…….help others and get helped…becoz one good turn deserves another.

I don’t hate the code of another, I simply prefer to write a project from scratch rather than modifying an existing one or adding on top of it, simply because projects that need to get themselves above the crowd and come up with something new will not succeed if it’s running the same piece of code accessible to everyone.

If you’re building a professional website that you expect millions to visit and you want to match the needs of your visitors properly, you will need a custom robust solution developed from scratch that fits your exact needs.
